The Prophetic Drawings of RAW...

These are a couple of my drawings from high school...an Indication even at that stage that I was into typography.


This one is really prophetic. R.A.W. are my initials. I had a habit of always drawing myself the way I wanted to look. I looked not nearly as cool in the 9th grade.

But what is more interesting is my fascination with NYC though I had never been. I felt akin to it. So much, that I drew it in my name. I guess NYC has always been inside me.

PS- Remember the 3 parts in the eyebrow? Well I thought that only one to match the part in my hair was much cooler.


I drew this when I met my high school friend Caronica. Her nick name was Bookie. I liked it, but thought it was cooler to lose the 'e'. It was a cuter Brand. Ha. She always wore a white headband in her hair.

I once designed about 10 pairs of sneakers and mailed them to Nike. They kindly sent me letter stating that the law prohibited them to look at them and they returned them. I wish I still had the other designs. I swear I have seen a few designs inspired by my sketches...

Maybe this prophecy has yet to be actualized...
